Early Childhood Overview Course

For Elementary Candidates:

The alternative for an Early Childhood credential is defined as a course of study at least 40 contact hours presented by an Early Childhood instructor.

This course is designed to develop within the Elementary adult learner a deep understanding and appreciation for:

a. The basic principles of Montessori philosophy of birth through age 6.

b. Montessori rationale and basic methodology for the materials in the curriculum areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural.

c. Four hours (10%) of the prerequisite overview course can be documented observations of an Early Childhood classroom.

d. The prerequisite overview course hours are in addition to the minimum academic required hours for the credential that will be issued.
